Kardia of Rhodes (also known as Kardios or Kardia) was a Greek physician who lived in the 3rd century BCE on the island of Rhodes. He was a pupil of the famous physician Herophilus and is known for his contributions to the field of medicine.
Kardia is credited with developing a surgical technique for draining abscesses, which was later improved upon by Galen. He also wrote several medical treatises, but unfortunately, none of them have survived to the present day.
Despite the lack of surviving texts, Kardia is still remembered as an important figure in the history of medicine, especially for his work in surgery and his association with Herophilus. The ancient Greek physician Galen even referred to him as one of the "famous doctors of the past."
Overall, Kardia of Rhodes played a significant role in the development of ancient Greek medicine and continues to be studied and remembered by medical historians today.
